Hi Joyful Art Center Community 💛

The studio has been buzzing lately, and we’re excited to share what’s coming up. With Spring Break Art Camp happening this week, there’s already plenty of creativity in motion, along with opportunities to create both in the studio and out in the community. There’s a little something for every pace and interest.

Here’s what’s coming up.

Kids (Ages 5–11)

​Spring Break Camp | April 6-9 • 10am-3pm

• HAPPENING THIS WEEK!
• Four days of creative projects with a different theme each day.
• Explore painting, mixed media, and hands-on art activities.
• Join all four days at a discount or choose the days that work best.
• A fun, welcoming studio environment for creative exploration.

​En Plein Air – Downtown Sketchbook | April 17 • 4:30-6pm

• Explore downtown through sketching and watercolor.
• Each student receives their own sketchbook.
• Observe plants, textures, and architecture.
• Learn simple drawing and watercolor techniques.
• A mindful, creative plein air experience.

​En Plein Air – Textures of Downtown | April 18 • 10-11:30am

• Explore textures and patterns around downtown.
• Take a short walk to collect surface rubbings.
• Use crayons and rubbing paper to capture details.
• Create a mixed-media collage from your findings.
• A fun, hands-on way to build observation skills.

​Pizza & Paint Night | April 25 • 5:30-8pm

• A relaxed evening of painting paired with pizza and good company.
• Follow step-by-step instruction to create your own artwork.
• Customize colors and details to make it uniquely yours.
• Enjoy a fun, social atmosphere in the studio.
• No experience needed—just come ready to create and enjoy.

For Adults & Teens (Ages 13+)

​Watercolor Meet-Up | April 16 • 6-8pm

• A relaxed studio session focused on watercolor painting.
• Explore techniques or work on your own ideas.
• Light guidance available from a Joyful Art Center instructor.
• Connect with other creatives in a welcoming space.
• A calm, low-pressure way to enjoy painting.

​Puzzle Showdown: Team Challenge | April 19 • 2-6pm

• Teams of four race to complete a puzzle within 4 hours.
• Work together, think fast, and enjoy some friendly competition.
• Includes a puzzle to keep, plus snacks, drinks, and desserts.
• Enjoy music and 10% off store items during the event.
• Bring a puzzle to swap and trade for a new challenge.

For Everyone

​Squares of Connection: Opening Night | April 16 • 5:30-7:30pm

• A collaborative exhibition featuring artists from CMF, Youth Achievement Center, and Joyful Art Center.
• Individual works come together to explore identity, community, and connection.
• Highlights how art can build bridges across different life experiences.
• Hosted at the Vacaville Museum from 5:30–7:30 PM.
• Free event—no registration required, all are welcome.

​Open Studio: Creative Cafe

• A relaxed studio time with an art café feel—come in, settle in, and create.
• Choose from a menu of creative projects.
• Basic supplies, tools, and workspace available.
• Joyful Art Center staff are nearby for light guidance if you want it.
• A welcoming space to slow down, explore, and create at your own pace.

Our goal is always to create a space where kids, teens, and adults feel comfortable trying something creative. If something here catches your interest, we’d be happy to see you in the studio.
